Daily Devotional 8/7/2016

This verse is a great one for anyone going through hard times, struggles, or those crying out to God for help.

James 1:2-4 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

This verse reminds me that whether we are dealt a good hand or a bad hand, it all came from God.

The Bible tells us to count it all as joy. When we have trials or bumps in the road or fall on hard times, the Bible tells us to count it all as joy.

When we are struggling and feel like we can’t handle what we are faced with, our faith can be tested.

But the Bible is telling us that when our faith is tested, that produces steadfastness.

Steadfastness = fixed in direction, firm in purpose and faith, unwavering.

When our faith is tested, we have to know that God is in control.

We need to stay fixed in our direction that points towards God, towards heaven, and towards an everlasting life.

We need to stay firm in our purpose for being here, the purpose God intended for us.

We need to be unwavering in our faith and commitment to serve our God.

“And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

When I read this, the word perfect stood out to me.

We live in our world where we are told nothing is perfect, we aren’t perfect and we never will be.

But we are perfect in God’s eyes.

God made us perfect in His way.

This is one I need to remember.

Send this one to a friend/family member/co-worker, someone you know who might be struggling with a hard time, someone who seems to have hit a bump, or someone crying out for help.
