We are taking a summer break from shows, and will be back at it in September!
We started this little business just last fall. The Eagleville Fall Festival was our very first show ever!! And it will be our next one!
It’s hard to believe, but we have done 8 shows now!
I still feel like a total beginner and not sure that will ever go away. But I know I love doing this.
I love being creative, building things, creating items I love and hope others will too. I love setting up a little shop to show off our items. I love spending the time working with my mom. I love meeting customers and hearing how they are going to use an item, or who it will be gifted to. I love meeting other vendors, hearing how they started, how far they have come, and learning from them. I love that I can go anywhere with this business, depending on how hard I work at it. I have a long way to go to where I want to be, but I am slowly working my way there.
Thinking back on the past shows, I know I can learn a lot from them.
Some shows have been much more busy and successful than others, but we have had a good time at all of them.
The busy ones, we love getting to talk with a lot of customers and obviously love making sales.
The slower ones, we get to talk with ourselves about different things we want to try, and meet other vendors and get tips and advice from them.
We learn something new with each one, and try to do things differently the next time.
So the reasons for taking a break from shows for the summer:
1. It’s too hot for outside shows. I don’t mind sweating when I’m working, but I hate to just sit and sweat. There’s a difference.
2. I didn’t really find any that sparked my interest. Maybe I missed something, but I just didn’t find anything too exciting.
3. I want to really be excited about an event to sign up for it. I don’t want to sign up for something that doesn’t look like a great event, that could waste a lot of my time, and one that I wouldn’t be 100% excited to be a part of.
I really want to come back stronger and more focused in the fall.
I am going to spend this time working on some projects at home, updating my Etsy Shop, work on building a better blog, and just refocusing and planning out what I want from this business and what we need to do/change to get there.
I would love to hear advice/tips/suggestions/constructive criticism/honest feedback if you would like to share, you can email me: email@example.com
